Another morning having to pack up with everything a little wet from the past night’s storm is never fun. I Was held up leaving Walterboro in the morning but for a good reason. I met Robert and his wife at the campground and got to talking.
Thanks again!
They were very kind and took me out to breakfast where we discussed travel and such. On my way to Charleston, about 25 miles in, my cycle computer stopped working. I think it may have something to do with the fact that it was left out in the rain last night but I am hoping it just needs new batteries. Either way, it was both good and bad to ride without the computer for a while. On one hand, you are riding without knowing really how far you have gone and focus less on the distance to go, which is a good thing. On the other hand, a lot of the map directions specify mileage, especially for unsigned roads and such, so it also means a greater chance of missing a turn and that kind of thing.
I don’t even really like horses, but this guy was pretty cute
Also, I like to keep specific track of mileage and speed and such and can’t do that anymore. I got into Charleston at around 5pm and quickly found a bike shop. I purchased a new set of tires, and will have to put those on before leaving town. After that I met up with my Couchsurfing host, who was mighty interesting and friendly, as was her roommate. Didn’t have too much time to hang out since she was packing up for a trip the next day. A good night sleep on a comfy couch and without having to deal with camp was appreciated as always.
$139? Seriously, Best Western? Glad I have a place to stay here
