So as you can imagine, I have a lot of free time during my travels. After being on a mini boycott of book reading since graduating, I have reacquainted myself with a love for books and will be giving brief little synopsis and thoughts on them here. I also hope to engage in book swapping as much as I can, since I only have space to carry one book at a time and like the idea of sharing books with others.
Ishmael
by Daniel Quinn
This is actually my second time reading this book, but I was in like 10th grade the first time and I don’t think I really paid attention, so I figured it was a good one to start with. The story and the message are surprisingly ahead of their time, considering the book was written in 1991 and the issues it speaks to are even more pertinent now. The book pretty simply discusses the ramifications of human impact on our planet. It gives thoughtful insights presented in a creative narrative and without being preachy, which is key. If you read Ishmael, you will probably find that many of the issues it discusses you were already aware of, but it gives a new perspective. If you are at all concerned with the state of our destruction of our world and resources, give Ishmael a shot. An easy an enjoyable read with a thoughtful message, right on.

Yes! Love this book. It sure makes a person think about things differently. I wish everyone would read it.
Do you remember what the names of the cities were where you found the British phone booth and the flying saucer-like building? I’d love to see those for myself. P.S. Are you taking donations for your trip?
Have you either read the book or seen the movie, “Into the Wild?” I think you’d enjoy them both!
